VALLEY CITY – Early runs helped end a good weekend for Jamestown Eagles Legion Baseball.

The Eagles scored four runs in the second inning Sunday and held on for a 5-3 win over Bemidji in the championship game of the Bridge City Classic at Charlie Brown Memorial Field.

Jamestown (3-1) started their way to their third straight win with the big second inning, which included an RBI single by Jace Kolpin and an RBI double by Cody Busch.

The Eagles’ fifth run scored in the fourth when Colton Gerlach stole third, then scored on a throwing error.

Starter Haden Smith pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out three.  Kale Verke earned a save despite giving up a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Jamestown will open AA Legion play with a doubleheader against West Fargo at 5:00 PM on Tuesday at Jack Brown Stadium.
