Staying below average and mostly dry for a couple days

From Monday night’s storms, two tornadoes were confirmed across eastern Nebraska by the National Weather Service of Omaha.

An EF-1 tornado was confirmed toward Rogers and North Bend, with one minor injury reported. The tornado started on the Platte River, doing damage eventually to campers, mobile homes and uprooting a tree that fell onto a home.

No damage was reported from a tornado toward Du Bois, Nebraska, so that tornado was given an EF-U rating.

So far Wednesday morning, there’s been just enough wind to mention a wind chill early on. Yes it is March 21st, and it’s cool enough this morning to mention that the breeze out there makes it even a few degrees cooler as you’re heading out the door.

Wednesday afternoon will warm nicely with more sun. It’ll feel comfortable with a dry air mass and temperatures eventually in the lower 70s.

The northwest winds will be gusting up around 25-30 mph the second part of the day – not as bad as Tuesday.

Stray showers and weak storms are on track for southeast Nebraska as they move southeast out of the Sandhills if they can hold on by the late afternoon and early evening. Today will be mostly dry for the majority.

A dominating day of sunshine and a little less wind Thursday will be pleasant. Occasionally, showers and thunderstorms will be possible throughout Memorial Day weekend starting with Friday.

The threat for severe weather by Friday remains low, but there is a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk toward southwest Nebraska with hail possible.
