Georgian Youth Parliament visits Agricultural Research Center

The Members of the Committee of Agriculture and the representatives of the Youth Parliament got acquainted with the activities of the Agricultural Scientific-Research Center.

The Scientific Research Center for Agriculture (SRCA) of Georgia shared the glimpses of its activities on its official Facebook Page on May 29, 2026, Thursday. The Scientific Research Center also shared a small note about the activities along with its glimpses.

Agricultural Scientific-Research Center hosted members of the Georgian Parliament’s Agrarian Affairs Committee, interns of the Parliament, and representatives of the Youth Parliament on the trial-demonstration base of perennial crops of Jighaura.

During the visit, the exit session of the Committee on Agrarian Issues of the Georgian Parliament was held, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Gela Samkharauli. During the session, Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of the Agricultural Scientific-Research Center, presented the main directions of the Center’s activities, current and completed projects, achieved results, and future development plans.

The meeting emphasized the importance of protecting agrobiodiversity, preserving genetic resources, and applying modern scientific research and innovative approaches.

During the visit, guests visited Jighaura’s perennial cultures trial-demonstration base, a unique collection of Georgian grapes and wine museum space, as well as an exhibition space representing the activities of the Agricultural Scientific-Research Center, where the results and samples produced by the Center in different directions were presented.

During the visit, the delegation also visited the research base of the Agricultural Scientific-Research Center, where they inspected the one-year demonstration plots of crops and became acquainted with ongoing research activities on various crops.

Guests also visited In-Vitro, Soil Fertility Research and Certification Laboratories, where they received detailed information about modern research capabilities, ongoing projects, and outcomes.

Visits like this promote deepening interest in science and agriculture among young people, knowledge sharing, and actively engaging future generations in the development of the country’s agrarian sector.
