Panama President Mulino Accompanies the Greek Prime Minister at the Opening of Posidonia 2026

On Monday, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pictured below, accompanied by President José Raúl Mulino, inaugurated the Posidonia 2026 International Maritime Fair, which runs now until June 5th. Following the inauguration, the Panamanian pavilion was officially opened by both leaders.  Mulino held meetings with Theodoros Veniamis Tuesday.  Mulino and the President of Greece joined forces in support of world trade.

Mulino Holds Talks with Shipping Companies

Mulino toured the booths of key companies, including Panama International Logistics & Service Inc., Global Shipping Logistics Company, and Kouk Maritime Group. Posidonia has become the leading meeting point for the maritime sector, hosting more than 2,000 exhibitors from the international shipping industry, over 100 private and government sector companies, shipyards, shipowners, and technology providers, among others.

Greek shipowners are the primary users of Panama’s ship registry. Their fleet handles a significant portion of global cargo and provides crucial revenue for the Panamanian economy.  Given the great importance of Greece to Panama and with a view to consolidating trust, maintaining and attracting new investments for the country in maritime, logistics and tourism areas, President Mulino was accompanied during his visit by a high-level delegation.

The Agenda Continued Tuesday

President Mulino was accompanied at the inauguration and tour of the fair by the Ambassador and Consul General of Panama in Greece, Julie Lymberopulos Karnakis; Javier Martínez-Acha, Minister of Foreign Affairs; José Ramón Icaza, Minister of Canal Affairs; Julio Moltó, Minister of Commerce and Industries; Gloria de León, Administrator of Tourism; Luis Roquebert, Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority; Salomón Shamah, Director General of Tourism Promotion of Panama (PROMTUR); Alberto Vallarino, former Minister of Economy and Finance; and Alberto Alemán Zubieta, former Administrator of the Panama Canal.

This Tuesday, prior to meetings with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximus Mansion and with the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, at the Presidential Mansion, Mulino will attend, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs and Island Policy, Stefanos Gkikas, a ceremony at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Syntagma Square, where he will offer a greeting and lay a wreath.

Both President Mulino and President Tasoúlas will be decorated at the presidential residence, where collaboration agreements on tourism and foreign relations will be signed.  Mulino will also hold a meeting this Tuesday with Theodoros Veniamis of Golden Union Shipping Company SA, a prominent Greek shipowner and leader who heads a leading dry cargo management and operations company. Veniamis was a key figure in representing the maritime sector, serving as president of the influential Union of Shipowners’ Guilds of Greece.  Mulino will travel to Greece to strengthen Panama’s maritime, logistics, and tourism alliances.
