A Russian overnight strike damaged a Chinese Zeekr dealership in Kyiv’s Podil district on 1-2 June. The premium electric-vehicle showroom at 4 Naberezhno-Luhova Street has temporarily suspended operations, the company said in its statement.

China is Russia’s most important wartime economic partner — its top trading partner and a key source of the dual-use components found in Russian weapons. Beijing also anchors an informal anti-Western bloc often described as an “axis of upheaval”, which includes Russia, Iran, and North Korea. 

The Zeekr strike means Chinese commerce in Ukraine is now being damaged by Russian weapons, partly built with Chinese parts.

Temporarily suspending operations

“Due to the consequences of the enemy attack, our dealership on Podil at 4 Naberezhno-Luhova Street is temporarily suspending operations,” the company said in its post, accompanied by a video showing damaged display cars and the gutted interior.

Photographs released by Ukraine’s State Emergency Service show the dealership’s facade burned. Zeekr is a Chinese premium electric-vehicle brand founded in 2021 and owned by Geely Automobile Holdings.

Massive overnight attack on Kyiv Oblast

The Zeekr damage falls within the broader Russian drone-and-missile barrage that the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, described as “massive” and running practically without pause through the night.

Kyiv Oblast deployed its newest automated, remotely controlled turrets in defense, with the “Clean Sky” anti-drone project shooting down nearly 100 enemy drones at the oblast’s perimeters during the attack.

Chinese parts in Russian weapons

In May 2026, Ukraine’s Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy, Vladyslav Vlasiuk, presented European ambassadors with parts recovered from the 24 May Russian overnight attack on Ukraine.

The Russian Kalibr, Zircon, and Kh-101 cruise missiles and Geran-2 strike drones contained components from China, alongside parts manufactured in Switzerland, Germany, the US, the UK, and Japan, Liga.net detailed. 

Additionally, according to reports, China’s armed forces secretly trained about 200 Russian military personnel in China in late 2025. Some have since returned to fight in Ukraine.
