Man granted bail after denying assault, threat charges

11

A St George man has been granted $3 000 bail after denying charges of assaulting, resisting and threatening a police officer on Wednesday.

Darren Ian Johnson, 29, of Middleton pleaded not guilty to resisting Jerison Sergeant of the Barbados Police Service in the execution of his duty; assaulted the officer, occasioning him actual bodily harm; used the threatening words ‘if you put your hands on me I gine kill you’ with intent to cause the officer to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used against him; and, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, had in his possession a flick knife, an offensive weapon, at the Constitution River Terminal, a public place on May 27.

There were no objections to bail and the case was adjourned until September 2.

Attorney Neville Reid represented the accused.
