The White House on Tuesday fired off a flurry of posts on X in response to CNN’s reporting on President Donald Trump’s health and coverage of his habit of seemingly nodding off in public.
Using its Rapid Response account, the White House shared a series of screenshots of CNN personalities and guests with their eyes closed — often mid-blink or with their heads bowed — in an apparent attempt to make it look as though they were asleep.
The posts appeared to suggest that anyone can be made to look asleep in a still image. The White House has repeatedly sought to use that spin to push back on the “sleepy Trump” narrative.
Those featured in the White House posts included CNN’s Kate Bolduan, Kevin Liptak, Dana Bash, Jake Tapper and Brianna Keilar, The Wall Street Journal’s Josh Dawsey and Harvard Medical School professor Dr. Jeremy Faust.
Bash responded to one of the posts with a brief quip: “If only ! Thanks for watching.”
The posts came on the same day that Trump underwent his latest scheduled physical, as scrutiny around his health, mental acuity and general fitness for office continues to intensify.
