Only 3% of employees in Lithuania usually work weekends, the lowest share in the entire European Union, according to the latest Eurostat data.

Eurostat figures show that in 2025, 21.3% of people aged 15 to 64 across the European Union usually worked weekends. Weekend work was most common among service and sales workers (47.6%), as well as skilled workers in agriculture, forestry and fisheries (47.2%).

Among all EU countries, the highest shares of employees who usually work weekends were recorded in Greece (31.5%), Cyprus (31.3%), and Malta (29.2%). The lowest figures were in Lithuania (3%), Poland (4.2%) and Hungary (6.2%).

Looking at all people working weekends, their share in Lithuania stood at 3.9% in 2025. Only 3% of employees with employment contracts usually worked weekends.

Among self-employed people, the figure reached 9.7%, while among employers it stood at 15.4%.
