A three-day training programme for Census 2027 enumerators, supervisory officers, and technical assistants began at the Cuddalore Collectorate here on Monday.

According to Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar, preparatory work for Census 2027 is currently under way in the district.

As part of the first phase, the House Listing and Housing Census will be conducted from August 1 to 31. The 2027 Census in the State will be carried out entirely through modern digital technology, using online data entry and uploading systems. For the first time, self-enumeration will be introduced in Census 2027 from July 17 to July 31.

The Principal Census Officer and District Collector has appointed 10 tahsildars, six municipal commissioners, 14 panchayat executive officers and one Township Officer (Neyveli) in the district as supervisory officers. In the second phase, population enumeration would be carried out by the enumerators.
