Johanfran Garcia’s RBI single with two outs in the 10th inning gave the Portland Sea Dogs a 4-3 win over the Reading Fightin Phils in the teams’ series finale Sunday at Hadlock Field.
Down 3-2 entering the inning, Portland (22-22) tied the game when Franklin Arias’ triple scored Tyler McDonough. Will Turner reached on a fielders’ choice, stole second and scored on Garcia’s single off Evan Gates (0-3, 3.60 ERA).
Reading (21-24) took the lead in the top of the 10th when Austin Murr tripled home Aroon Escobar.
Ronald Rosario homered for Portland, and Rosario, Arias and Garcia had two hits apiece. Cooper Adams (4-3, 5.53 ERA) earned the win, allowing three hits over two innings. Starter Gage Ziehl allowed three hits and two earned runs over 4 2/3 innings with four walks and four strikeouts.
