Koki, a sulphur-crested cockatoo born in 1956, has become one of the best-known symbols of Croatia’ Brijuni islands over the decades.
Known for his intelligence and ability to communicate with visitors, Koki has remained a favourite attraction for generations visiting the islands.
Visitors often hear him greeting guests with “Kako si?” (“How are you?”) or repeating his name, “Koki, Koki”.

He is also known for imitating laughter and whistling, which has helped make him internationally recognised among visitors to Croatia.

Brijuni National Park will host a special programme on Sunday, 31 May 2025, to celebrate the 70th birthday of Koki.
To mark the occasion, the national park has organised special guided tours through the Safari Park and pheasantry, where visitors will be able to learn more about Koki’s life and the other animals living at Brijuni.
The programme also highlights the importance of parrot protection, wildlife conservation and education about the relationship between humans and animals as part of International Parrot Day.

Two organised tours will take place at 14:30 and 15:30. The experience includes a tourist train ride through the Safari Park, a guided walk to the pheasantry and an opportunity to meet Koki and other birds.
The programme lasts around two hours.
Alongside the tours, visitors will also be able to view an outdoor exhibition of children’s artwork titled “Koki Through the Eyes of Children”, while younger guests can collect special colouring books created for Koki’s birthday celebrations.
Adult tickets are priced at €17, while children aged 7 to 18 pay €12. Entry is free for children under seven. Ticket sales begin on 29 May.
