Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has praised the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad for achieving a remarkable milestone in kidney transplantation. The Department of Urology at NIMS has successfully conducted 2,000 kidney transplants, making it the leading institution in South India for this procedure. Nationally, the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) in Gujarat holds the top position, with Christian Medical College in Ludhiana ranking second.
Revanth Reddy congratulated the NIMS medical team for their exceptional service to kidney patients. Remarkably, 1,900 of these patients—95%—received their transplants free of charge through the Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. NIMS set a new record by performing 500 transplants within just three years and four months, starting from January 2023.
