There is important news for commuters traveling on the recently opened Dehradun-Delhi Expressway. In view of pre-monsoon safety works, the NHAI has decided to temporarily alter traffic arrangements along a stretch of approximately 1.25 kilometers in the Datkali area. This diversion will come into effect on Friday and remain operational until June 8. During this period, vehicles traveling from Dehradun towards Saharanpur will have to take the old highway route, while vehicles traveling from Saharanpur towards Dehradun will be diverted to the other lane of the Expressway.
According to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), this work is being undertaken to stabilize the hill slopes near Datkali ahead of the monsoon season and to mitigate the risk of landslides. Consequently, traffic movement has been temporarily rerouted along a specific section of the Expressway.
New Traffic Plan
NHAI Project Director Saurabh Singh stated that vehicles traveling from Delhi/Saharanpur towards Dehradun will be shifted from the left lane of the Expressway to the right lane. Vehicles will proceed along this lane for a distance of approximately 1.25 kilometers before being guided back into the left lane just prior to the Datkali Tunnel.
Traffic Diverted to Old Highway Route
Conversely, vehicles traveling from Dehradun towards Saharanpur will be diverted onto the old highway route after crossing the Datkali Tunnel. These vehicles will travel along the old route for a distance of approximately 1.3 kilometers, after which they will be able to rejoin the right lane of the Expressway.
