North Korea’s Naegohyang Women’s Football Club defeated South Korea’s Suwon FC Women 2-1 in a rare inter-Korean sporting matchup Wednesday to advance to the final of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Champions League.
Playing at the Suwon Sports Complex in Suwon city, about 20 miles south of Seoul, Naegohyang — a Pyongyang-based club — appeared under pressure for most of the match against the home team.
However, the North Korean side rallied to equalize minutes after Suwon’s opening goal in the second half of the semifinal, and soon after scored a decisive goal, securing a place in Saturday’s final
