Australian Federal Police Provides $200k Tala worth of Equipment ahead of Independence Celebrations

The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services acknowledges the continued support and assistance of the Australian Federal Police (AFP), through the Samoa Australia Police Partnership (SAPP), in preparation for the upcoming Independence Celebrations.

Acting Commissioner, Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga, officially received 100 portable radios and accessories, valued at approximately $200,000 talā.

AFP Senior Responsible Officer (SRO), Superintendent Simon Penny, presented the equipment.

The portable radios will support operational policing, coordination, and communication efforts for the upcoming Independence celebrations.

“This timely assistance will significantly strengthen frontline communication capabilities and operational coordination to help ensure the safety and security of the public during the Independence celebrations,” said Leiataualesa.

The Samoa Police extends its sincere appreciation to the AFP for their continued partnership, commitment, and ongoing support towards strengthening policing capability.

The AFP continues to support the Government of Samoa in delivering safe and secure national events.

“Working together for a safer Samoa.”
