President Salva Kiir has met his wartime colleague, Major General William Deng Garang, at the State Secretariat in Juba, days after recognizing him during the SPLA Day celebration.

According to the Office of the President, the two longtime comrades who fought side by side during South Sudan’s liberation war reflected on their shared history, sacrifices and experiences during the struggle for freedom.
The meeting came shortly after President Kiir praised William Deng Garang for his contribution to the liberation movement and the independence of South Sudan.
During the anniversary event, President Kiir acknowledged William Deng Garang as one of the comrades who remained committed during difficult periods of the struggle.
The meeting also highlighted the enduring ties among liberation veterans and reflected on the sacrifices made during South Sudan’s fight for independence.
