FORMER Livingstone Mayor Constance Nalishebo Muleabai said she has withdrawn from the race for the Livingstone Central parliamentary seat ahead of the Aug. 13 general elections.
In a statement seen by Mwebantu, Muleabai said the decision came after reflection, prayer and counsel from family, friends and supporters.
“Leadership is not only about holding office; it is also about knowing when to step aside for the greater good,” she said.
Muleabai said she would now focus on campaigning nationwide for President Hakainde Hichilema. She thanked Hichilema, the UPND and Livingstone residents for the opportunity to serve as mayor, calling it “one of the greatest honors of my life.”
She pledged full support for whoever is adopted as the UPND candidate for Livingstone Central and urged unity behind the party’s goal of re-electing Hichilema.
