LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The No. 4-ranked Nebraska softball team took down South Dakota in the first round of the Lincoln Regional on Friday, beating the Coyotes 4-1 at Bowlin Stadium.

It was a slow start for the Huskers’ offense, but the bats woke up in the later innings, scoring 2 runs in the fifth and 2 in the sixth.
As a team, Nebraska tallied six hits and committed zero errors, while South Dakota only managed two hits and committed zero errors.
Big Ten Freshman of the Year Alexis Jensen was strong in the circle, pitching five innings while only allowing one earned run and fanning six batters.
Hannah Camenzind led the Huskers from the plate, going 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI.
Kacie Hoffmann’s two RBI double in the sixth inning shut the door on the Coyotes. Jordy Frahm, Hannah Coor and Jesse Farrell each tallied one hit.
Earlier in the day, the No. 3 seed in the Lincoln Regional, Grand Canyon, defeated No. 2-seeded Louisville 5-1.
Nebraska will match up with Grand Canyon on Saturday for a chance to go to the regional final.
