Team Guyana primed for success at Roger Boyce Classic

Guyana’s elite bodybuilding and fitness athletes are primed to make a major impact on the international stage as they head to Barbados for the prestigious Roger Boyce Classic and World Cup this weekend.

The highly anticipated event, running from May 16th to 17th, will see a powerhouse Guyanese contingent go head-to-head with some of the finest physique athletes in the world in an ultimate test of discipline, strength, and symmetry.

The delegation boasts a formidable blend of seasoned champions and emerging youth talent, spearheaded by IFBB Pro Rosanna Fung, who is set to carry the nation’s highest hopes in the Women’s Wellness division.

The senior ranks feature a wealth of experience with Lindon Burnett and Colin Chesney pulling double duty across the Men’s Bodybuilding and Masters categories, while Romelton Siland faces an incredibly demanding schedule spanning Men’s Fitness, Men’s Physique, and Masters Physique.

Guyana’s prospects in the popular physique and wellness categories look exceptionally strong for the two-day event. Roley Chandler will lead the charge in Men’s Physique, with Christopher Anthony bringing his symmetrical lines to the Classic Physique stage.

The female contingent is equally formidable, with Sabita Stephenson set to contend in the Miss Bikini category and Weslyn Gonzalez aiming for top honours in Women’s Wellness alongside Fung.

Crucially, the future of the sport in Guyana remains bright as the association has invested heavily in its next generation for this global showcase.

Promising youth prospects Javir Cespedes, contesting both Youth Physique and Youth Bodybuilding, and Suraj Jhaman, competing in Youth Bodybuilding, have earned their spots to gain invaluable experience on the world stage.

The powerhouse squad’s campaign in Bridgetown has received vital backing from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and the Guyana Olympic Association.

President of the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, Roger Callender, and Vice-President Videsh Sookram, are travelling with the contingent.
