Andrew Burns 27, who was murdered at Donnyloop in Castlefin in 2008 (An Garda Siochana)

A woman in her 60s has been arrested in relation to the murder of a man in Co Donegal nearly 20 years ago.

Andrew Burns, 27, was murdered at Donnyloop in Castlefin on February 12, 2008.

He received a number of gunshot wounds and was later found on a road close to Donnyloop Church. He was pronounced dead shortly before 8pm.

One person has been convicted of his murder and is serving a life sentence, but gardaí have previously said they believe that a number of people were involved.

On Thursday evening, gardaí arrested a woman in her 60s as part of their investigation into Mr Burns’ murder.

She is being detained at a garda station in the North-West.

Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone with any information to come forward, in particular, the occupant or occupants of a red van that it is believed to have been in the Donnyloop area at around 7pm on the evening Mr Burns was murdered in 2008.
