The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) 2026 was conducted smoothly across Visakhapatnam on Sunday, with officials reporting a high turnout and no disruptions.

The examination, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), was held in a single shift from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., in line with the national schedule. Candidates were required to report between 11 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.

The examination was held at 18 centres in the city. Of the 8,112 candidates who had registered, 7,987 appeared, translating into an attendance rate of approximately 98.45%.

According to the officials, all centres were adequately equipped, with arrangements including CCTV surveillance, drinking water facilities, layered security checks, and signal jammers. Biometric verification and frisking were carried out at entry points, in accordance with national guidelines aimed at ensuring transparency and preventing malpractice.

Instructions regarding prohibited items and the prescribed dress code were communicated through signage at the centres and reinforced during entry checks. Candidates were reported to have adhered to the stipulated norms.

Personnel drawn from central institutions, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Andhra University, and the Central Tribal University, were deployed as invigilators, observers, deputy superintendents, and superintendents. The examination process was coordinated through the District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC), with city coordinators E.V.L.N. Vamsi Krishna, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya Steel Plant, and Kamal Jeet, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Waltair, overseeing examination-related coordination. District officials oversaw logistics and crowd management.
