Agartala: Preparations for the upcoming Village Committee (VC) elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) have begun, with the State Election Commission (SEC) issuing guidelines for preparation and finalisation of polling stations.
In a notification issued by SEC Secretary Anurag Sen, all Returning Officers, who are the respective Block Development Officers (BDOs), have been directed to prepare polling station lists as per the TTAADC Village Committees (Conduct of Election) Rules, 1996.
As per the schedule, the draft list of polling stations will be published on May 11, while claims and objections can be filed till May 15. Disposal of objections will take place on May 16 and the final list will be published on May 18.
The SEC directed officials to prepare block-wise polling station lists covering all Village Constituencies under their jurisdiction and instructed that serial numbers of polling stations should be arranged from the north-west to south-east direction.
Copies of the draft list will also be provided to recognised political parties and displayed at Returning Officers’ offices and Village Committees for public inspection.
The move comes ahead of the next general elections to the Village Committees under the TTAADC.
