Afternoon storms brings flash flooding to Central Arkansas

Some areas of Central Arkansas saw flash flooding on Sunday as up to 1.5 inches of rain fell in a single hour, according to the National Weather Service.

“We got was some reports of water on roads in the metro area,” said meteorologist Erik Green. “We had a cell move right over, right over the urban footprint” in Little Rock.

“You have runoff pretty much everywhere, so that’ll lead to a lot of the high water on roads that we were seeing there on like (Interstate) 630 and some some pictures there in neighborhoods. But haven’t heard anything otherwise,” he added.

Conway spokesperson Bobby Kelly said he was aware of reports of flooding in the area of Harkrider Street and Oak Street about a mile west of Interstate 40, but not anything in the downtown area.
