Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. announced a bid for a third term on social media Friday. 

“Little Rock, over the past few years we’ve been doing the work. We’ve made our city safer. Crime is down, and we’ve invested in protecting our neighborhoods,” Scott said in a video posted to Facebook. 

Scott, who has been serving as mayor since 2019, will face Ward 7 City Director Brenda “BJ” Wyrick in November. No one else has thrown their hat in the ring, but prospective candidates have until August 5 to file.  

Wyrick, who has served on the city board since the early ’90s, announced her candidacy in September. Her announcement had a different vibe, taking shots at Scott’s leadership and lamenting that crime is still too high.
