Agartala: The Tipra Motha Party on Monday announced a new leadership team for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The party has appointed younger leaders to key positions.
Runiel Debbarma, 37, has been named the new Chief Executive Member (CEM). Bhabaranjan Reang, 39, will serve as Chairman of the council.
These changes replace senior leaders Purna Chandra Jamatia and Jagadish Debbarma from top posts. CK Jamatia has been appointed as an Executive Member (EM) and brings administrative experience to the team.
The reshuffle indicates a shift towards youth leadership in the party. The move is also seen as an effort to connect with younger voters. Party founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has also supported promoting emerging leaders.
Debbarma and Reang are expected to take charge on Tuesday. They will be among the youngest leaders to hold these positions in the council.
CK Jamatia, a retired civil servant and former CEO of the council, is expected to support administrative work, especially financial and governance matters.
The decisions were taken in a virtual meeting held at the royal palace. Debbarma joined the meeting online due to medical reasons. According to the party, all MDCs approved the names unanimously.
The new CEM will select other Executive Members to complete the council. The oath-taking ceremony will be held at the TTAADC headquarters.
After the election results on April 17, there was speculation about top posts. Several senior leaders were seen as possible candidates.
Party sources said loyalty and long-term association played an important role in the selection. Leaders who stayed with the party during difficult times were preferred.
There are also indications that internal issues during the elections influenced the leadership changes. The reshuffle is seen as both a corrective step and a new direction for the council.
