Chinese delegation meets Renewable Energy Authority of Libya to strengthen cooperation in the sector

The Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL) reported that it had held ‘‘a significant’’ meeting last Tuesday (28 April), at its Tripoli headquarters, with a high-level delegation from China. The meeting aimed to strengthen international partnerships and expand cooperation in clean energy, as well as exchange technical and technological expertise. The Privatisation and Investment Board (PIB) also attended the meeting.

Libya’s renewables strategy
During the meeting, REAoL presented the National Renewable Energy Strategy, highlighting Libya’s future vision for diversifying energy sources and reducing reliance on fossil fuels, in line with global trends towards sustainable development.

Implemented renewables projects
A comprehensive overview was also presented of the most prominent projects implemented by REAoL in recent years, including solar and wind energy projects in several regions, along with efforts to develop infrastructure and improve energy efficiency.

Chinese companies ready to enter a strategic partnership with Libya to implement projects
For their part, REAoL reported, the members of the Chinese delegation expressed their keen interest in Libya’s promising potential, particularly in the field of solar energy, praising its strategic geographic location and abundant natural resources. They also affirmed the readiness of Chinese companies to enter strategic partnerships with Libya and to work on implementing joint projects that contribute to the transfer of modern technology, strengthen the national economy, and create local job opportunities.

REAoL said the meeting comes within the framework of Libya’s efforts to enhance international cooperation and attract foreign investment in the renewable energy sector, which supports the achievement of sustainable development goals and strengthens the stability of the country’s energy sector.
