A representative of Ly Son Special Zone’s authorities in Quang Ngai Province said the dolphin appeared in coastal waters for more than four consecutive hours earlier in the day.

Witnesses said the animal swam within about 10 meters of the shore at times, remaining near the port area as boats moved in and out.

Residents and tourists gathered along the coastline to watch, take photos and record videos of the dolphin.

A local resident, identified as Chau, said the dolphin stayed in the area for an extended period and continued swimming despite nearby vessel traffic.

The dolphin later left the area after four hours.

Local elders believed the dolphin’s appearance close to shore, particularly near the port, indicated good marine environmental conditions around Ly Son, with clean water and a healthy ecosystem.

They described it as a positive sign for the island’s coastal waters.

Local fishermen have also long viewed dolphins as a favorable sign at sea, associated with safe voyages and abundant catches.
