Unbeaten Spartans roll to 3 wins

Unbeaten South Warren added three more softball victories to its resume over the weekend.
The nationally-ranked Spartans beat Green Hill – the No. 1 team in Tennessee – for a 5-4 home win Friday, then rolled to a 15-0 win in three innings against Frederick Douglass and a 10-0 win in five inning against Scott County on Saturday at Great Crossing High School.
Against Green Hill, Kalie Kuzma homered and drove in three runs to pace the Spartans. McLaine Hudson also homered as part of a 2-for-3 day, and Layla Ogden tallied a double and an RBI.
Courtney Norwood pitched all seven innings for the win, allowing four runs while striking out eight batters.
Ogden fired three perfect innings against Frederick Douglass to earn the win, allowing no runs off no hits or walks while striking out four. Kuzma was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, Parker Willoughby was 2-for-2 with a triple, a double and three runs scored, Kaylee Wilson drove in three runs, Ogden notched a double and two RBIs, Hadley Borders also drove in two runs, Hudson and Jordan Shehan each added a double and an RBI, and Kinleigh Russell also tallied an RBI.
Norwood pitched five perfect innings for the win against Scott County, allowing no runs off no hits or walks while striking out eight. At the plate, Norwood was 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI. Borders was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two stolen bases, Keegan Pruitt was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and an RBI, and Wilson added a double and two RBIs.
South Warren (29-0) is on the road to face Daviess County on Monday.
Warren Central 10, Fort Knox 8
Visiting Warren Central prevailed 10-8 in eight innings against Fort Knox on Saturday.
Parker Hawks was 3-for-4 with three triples and scored four runs for the Lady Dragons. Addison Walcher was 4-for-6, Maneshia Lockhart went 3-for-5 with two double and two RBIs, Mackenzie Rose went 3-for-5 with an RBI, Charlee Bailey was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, and Haylie Baxter went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Rose pitched all eight innings to earn the win, striking out 14.
Warren Central (2-8) is at McLean County on Monday.
Franklin-Simpson 10, East Robertson 4
Franklin-Simpson claimed a 10-4 home win Friday against East Robertson (Tennessee).
Lily Ferguson was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Jayden Kough was 2-for-3 with a double and scored three runs, Piper West was 2-for-4, Kloie Smith scored three runs and stole a pair of bases, and Presli West added an RBI. Abby Caudill started and got the win, allowing two unearned runs over 4 1/3 innings. She struck out two.
The Lady Wildcats lost a 12-5 road decision to Christian County on Saturday. Ferguson went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Kough and Addison Shelton each had two hits, and West and Annsleigh Holland each drove in a run.
Franklin-Simpson (15-10) hosts Westmoreland (Tennessee) on Monday.
Russellville 10, Metcalfe County 0
Russellville put together a three-game home winning streak over the weekend, beating Hopkinsville 19-0 on Friday and then topping Clarksville (Tennessee) Northwest 13-6 and Metcalfe County 10-0 in six innings on Saturday.
Alexis Triplett pitched three perfect innings against Hopkinsville, allowing no runs, hits or walks while striking out six in the three-inning victory. Chloe Penrod was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and five RBIs, Kha’Mirah Hampton was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBIs, Grace Tinsley tallied two RBIs, Rylee Grayson added a double and an RBI, and Kadence Lee, Legna Taylor and DeNazia Kennedy each notched an RBI.
Penrod was 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and six RBIs in the win against Northwest, Mariyah Merriweather was 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, Anyiah Hampton was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, Grayson and Tinsley each had two hits and an RBI, and Taylor drove in a run. Penrod earned the win in relief, allowing no runs over 2 2/3 innings while striking out three.
Anyiah Hampton pitched a two-hit shutout against Metcalfe with four strikeouts to earn the win, and added a home run and two RBIs at the plate. Lee was 3-for-3, Tinsley, tallied three hits and two stolen bases, Merriweather had two hits and three RBIs, Penrod finished with two hits and Shaelynn Cross drove in a run.
Russellville (11-8) visits Glasgow on Monday.
Warren East 9, Logan County 2
Autumn Brooks pitched and hit host Warren East to a 9-2 win against Logan County on Friday.
In the circle, Brooks fired a complete game allowing two runs while striking out three to earn the win. At the plate, she was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs.
Kaylee Jones added a 3-for-3 day, Jordan Brooks was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Emerye Ratliff was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Adelyn Hendrick also drove in a run for the Lady Raiders.
Warren East (9-12) is home against Bowling Green on Monday.
Logan County (5-12) is at Owensboro on Monday.
Glasgow 11, Metcalfe County 1
Host Glasgow rolled to an 11-1 win in five innings against Metcalfe County on Friday.
Jakylie Green was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and an RBI for the Lady Scotties. Reece England and Kinley Stephens each went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, Paige De Haas notched a double and three RBIs, Kayla Kirkpatrick had two hits and an RBI, Kerigan Hagan also notched two hits and NaTaya Lightfoot added an RBI.
Ayvah Maxey pitched all five innings to earn the win, allowing a run off one hit and two walks while striking out six.
Glasgow (6-9) is home against Russellville on Monday.
Baseball
Bowling Green 10, Henderson County 1
Bowling Green split a home doubleheader on Saturday, beating Henderson County 10-1 and falling 5-2 to Warren East.
The Purples opened the weekend with a 15-2 road win at Russell County on Friday. In that game, Henry Phillips was 3-for-4 with two doubles and six RBIs. John Mosley had a four-hit day and scored three runs, Colt Isenberg was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, Landon Gilbert was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, Hudson Nottmeier was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Jack Cowan homered and drove in two runs, and Grayson Rodgers and Jaxton Runner each drove in a run.
Mosley started and earned the win after pitching three scoreless innings. He struck out five.
Against Henderson, Mosley was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, two stolen bases and four RBIs. Logan Johnson was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, Gilbert went 2-for-4 with a triple, James Yarbrough notched a double and two RBIs, Nottmeier also had a double and an RBI, and Phillips drove in a run.
Gilbert started and pitched four no-hit innings to earn the win. He struck out eight.
The Purples managed only three hits in the loss to Warren East. Gilbert had a triple and an RB, and Nottmeier also tallied an RBI.
Bowling Green (20-3) is at District 14 rival Greenwood on Monday.
Warren East (8-13) hosts District 15 foe Glasgow on Monday.
Glasgow 5, Monroe County 4
Glasgow beat visiting Monroe County 5-4 on Friday, then dropped a 7-4 home decision to Taylor County on Saturday.
Keaton Haynes tallied two RBIs in the win against Monroe. Steven Garrett also drove in a run and earned the save with five innings of relief. Hudson Gumm pitched an inning of relief to pick up the win.
Haynes was 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the loss to Taylor.
Glasgow (14-12) is at District 15 rival Warren East on Monday.
