Agartala: Signs of reconciliation have emerged within Tripura’s Tipra Motha Party following its victory in the TTAADC elections, with leaders previously seen as dissidents reaching out to party supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.
Earlier, party leader Ananta Debbarma, who had contested the recent elections on a BJP ticket after severing ties with Tipra Motha, rejoined the party.
He was the first among the disgruntled leaders to re-establish contact with the leadership. He rejoined Tipra Motha shortly after the poll results were declared.
MLA Swapna Debbarma followed suit and met Debbarma in Shillong on Thursday. In a video shared after the meeting, the Tipra Motha chief called for unity, saying, “Let us forget what has happened and work together.”
Swapna Debbarma was among a group of legislators who were reportedly in talks with the BJP ahead of the TTAADC polls, fuelling speculation of a possible split in the party.
However, the party’s decisive performance in the elections appears to have stabilised its internal situation, sources indicated.
The TTAADC poll outcome is being seen as a turning point, with insiders claiming that attempts to weaken the organisation did not succeed and instead led to consolidation of support among voters.
Despite these developments, senior leader and minister Animesh Debbarma has not yet been seen publicly with the party chief and remained absent during the election campaign.
Some leaders within the party indicated that efforts are underway to bridge differences, though no formal announcement has been made regarding his position.
Sources also said leaders such as Brishaketu Debbarma and Ranjit Debbarma have maintained close coordination with the leadership during the period of internal discord.
The party has not issued any official statement on the internal developments so far.
