Nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, the gates of the world-renowned Kedarnath Dham were opened for devotees today amidst traditional rituals and ceremonies. At the time of the opening, the Kedarnath temple was adorned with 51 quintals of fresh marigold flowers. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself witnessed the ceremonial opening of the Dham’s gates. CM Dhami performed the first puja (worship) at the temple. Immense enthusiasm was observed among devotees arriving from across the country and abroad to witness the opening of the gates. The entire Dham is reverberating with chants of “Jai Baba Kedar.” The atmosphere is completely steeped in the spirit of devotion.
CM Dhami Performs First Puja in the Name of PM Modi
Hemant Dwivedi, Chairman of the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee (BKTC), stated that CM Dhami performed the first puja to Lord Kedarnath in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today, more than 10,000 devotees witnessed the opening of the gates. In his message, Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj extended his best wishes on the auspicious occasion of the opening of the gates of Shri Kedarnath Dham.
Snow Visible in Kedarnath
On the occasion of the opening, the BKTC—with the support of generous donors—decorated Kedarnath Dham with several quintals of flowers. Community kitchens (Bhandaras) were also set up to serve the large number of pilgrims. The weather in Kedarnath Dham has generally remained clear over the past few days. Light snowfall is visible across the entire Kedarnath region, and the weather remains chilly.
