An expert on AI has warned that Ireland is vulnerable to the use of AI to ‘astroturf’ grassroots support for political agendas.

UCC professor Barry O’Sullivan, who is an expert in AI and the Vice Chair of the European Commission High-Level Expert Group on AI, said the “potential and scale” of astroturfing campaigns is “significant.”
