The Hanoi Transport Management and Operation Center, under the city’s Department of Construction, coordinated with operating companies to launch the buses.

The investment came from the sustainable urban transport project linked to Hanoi’s metro line No. 3, according to local media.

The new buses serve three major routes, including route 16 running between My Dinh Bus Station and Nuoc Ngam Bus Station; route 24 connecting Long Bien, Nga Tu So, and Cau Giay; and route 29 operating between Giap Bat Bus Station and Tan Lap.

The addition raises the total number of electric and green-energy buses in Hanoi’s subsidized fleet to 699, including 560 electric buses and 139 compressed natural gas buses. These account for 35.8 percent of the city’s subsidized bus fleet.

Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper reported that Hanoi currently operates 155 bus routes, with 128 subsidized.

The Vietnamese capital’s bus fleet totals more than 1,800 vehicles.

According to the city’s roadmap, all buses in Hanoi will be converted to electric or green-energy vehicles by 2030.
