Bees Stolen from Delmar Beekeeper

DELMAR, Md. – The Lower Eastern Shore Beekeepers Association is offering a $500 reward for the safe return of a hive of bees stolen from a Delmar beekeeper.

The organization says the theft has been devastating for the beekeeper affected, and a report has been filed with the local authorities.

“These weren’t just bees; they were incredibly sentimental, having belonged to a dear friend who passed away,” the group said in a message posted to Facebook. “Our member is devastated and just wants their bees back. They took everything boxes, bees and stand.”

The organization is asking that anyone hearing of suddenly established hives in the Delmar area contact them. Beekeepers in particular are asked to keep an eye on marketplaces and local groups for equipment or bees being sold under suspicious circumstances.
