The Border Guard Command at Ba Ria-Vung Tau Port on Thursday confirmed that procedures had been completed to receive and transfer the injured supervisor ashore for urgent medical care.

The patient, identified as Choi Myoungsub, a 53-year-old South Korean national, was working aboard the LNG tanker under the flag of Bermuda en route from Taiwan to Singapore.

According to the ship’s captain, Choi suffered a fall during the voyage, resulting in a head injury accompanied by dizziness and nausea.

Following notification of the incident, the border guard command coordinated with Vungtau Shipping and Services Joint Stock Company to dispatch personnel and a vessel to the ship’s anchorage off Ho Chi Minh City to conduct the evacuation.

Another South Korean crew member, Lee Gyojin, 29, accompanied the injured supervisor during the transfer.

At around 1:00 pm, the LNG tanker reached the Vung Tau anchorage, where Choi and his colleague were handed over to the support vessel VUNGTAU 2018 for transport to shore.

Roughly three hours later, the rescue vessel docked at Cau Da Port in Vung Tau Ward, where border guard officials received the two individuals in accordance with regulations.

Choi was then swiftly transported to Vinmec International Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for emergency treatment and further medical care.
