Congress had to act repeatedly to aid farmers in Ohio and elsewhere hurt by Trump policies: Letter to the Editor

U.S. Rep. Dave Joyce, the Republican representing Ohio’s 14th Congressional District, in late March published a social media post touting the hard work he and his Republican colleagues had done “to provide real support for Ohio farmers in the Working Families Tax Cuts.”

What Joyce conveniently failed to mention was that this was yet another of multiple efforts by Congress to repair the damage done to Ohio farmers by Donald Trump’s illegal tariffs. Ohio farmers experienced a $76 million loss in agricultural exports, according to a Farm Flavor analysis of U.S. Department of Agriculture data from January through August 2025.
