The US Deputy Secretary of Interior, Katharine MacGregor is confirmed to attend the 126th Flag Day celebration.
Ms MacGregor joined the Department of the Interior in 2017, where she held several senior roles including Deputy Chief of Staff and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management. In 2020, she was confirmed as Deputy Secretary, serving until the end of the Trump administration’s first term. She returned to the role in 2025 under President Trump.
She will be accompanied by Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Mr William Hague.
Samoa will be represented by the Speaker of Parliament Auapaau Mulipola Aloitafu.
Other VIP guests who are confirmed to attend according to a list provided by the Governor’s Office are Commanding General US Army Reserve/9th Mission Support Command, Brigadier General Katherine Trombley, and Brigadier General of the US Indo Pacific Command, Sarah Russ.
Brigadier General Keir Scoubes of the Utah Army National Guard will also be here, along with Lt Russell Willis, Commanding Officer of the US Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit American Samoa
VIPs from Hawaii include Felea’i Lobendahn, Executive Coordinator of the Office of Hawaii Governor Josh Green, and Aaron Sala, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau.
Other guests attending Flag Day are Dr Makanani Sala, President and CEO of Gravitas Pasifika, and the Charge d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Samoa Daniel Tarapacki.
