Mongolia secures bronze at 8th SCO International Team Chess Tournament

AKIPRESS.COM – The Mongolian national team earned a bronze medal at the 8th SCO International Team Chess Tournament held in Shanghai from April 7-11, Montsame reported.

Competing in a rapid format against top-tier teams from 12 countries, the Mongolian squad—comprising Grand Masters Bilguun S. and Munguntuul B., and FIDE Master Baasansuren E.—advanced to the semifinals after strong performances against Kazakhstan and Egypt.

Following a semifinal loss to Russia, Mongolia faced Belarus in the bronze medal matches. After a tied aggregate score and a draw in the first blitz round, Mongolia secured a 2:1 victory in the final decisive blitz round to claim the third-place podium spot.
