During this year’s Myanmar traditional Maha Thingyan Festival, which will be celebrated across the country, festivities in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, and Mandalay will be broadcast live on four TV channels of Myanma Radio and Television. In addition, celebrations in other locations will be covered and broadcast as news segments and special programmes.
On 13 April, the eve of the Maha Thingyan Festival, the opening ceremonies for various festivities will be broadcast live: the Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan Central Pavilion will be shown on the MRTV Parliament Channel at 9 am, the Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pavilion on the MRTV Farmers’ Channel at 8 am, the Mandalay Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pavilion on the MRTV NRC Channel at 5 pm, and the Yangon Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pavilion on the MRTV Entertainment Channel at 7:30 am, along with the subsequent celebratory programmes following each opening.
Furthermore, these four channels will continue to broadcast live daily from 9 am to 12 noon and from 3 pm to 7 pm on Thingyan Akyo Day (14 April), Thingyan Akyet Day (15 April), and Thingyan Atet Day (16 April).
In addition to these events, festivities held at various other locations from the eve of Thingyan through to the final day of Thingyan (Atet Day) will also be covered and broadcast daily in news programmes on MRTV-HD and the MRTV News Channel. — MRTV/TH
