Suspect dead in Albuquerque police custody

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A suspect is dead after officers initially found him unconscious while responding to a domestic violence call in southeast Albuquerque.

Officers responded to the call around 1 a.m. Sunday at an apartment on Tennessee Street, near Bell Avenue. According to APD, they found a man who was unconscious and breathing when they arrived but then stopped breathing. They tried reviving the man but were unsuccessful. He died at the scene.

The Multi-Agency Task Force is investigating since he was in police custody at the time of his death.
