CASPER, Wyo. — The Bureau of Land Management recently announced that it is seeking public comments on a proposed non-competitive, direct sale at fair market value of approximately 800 public acres across nine isolated parcels near Glenrock, in Converse County.
A release from the BLM states that the parcels are surrounded by private property with no public access and they were deemed suitable for disposal and not needed for any other purpose in the Casper Resource Management Plan.
The release notes that the sale would help resolve the fragmented land jurisdiction patterns in the area that make management uneconomical with little to no public benefit. Only the surface acres are being considered for proposed sale; the federal government will maintain rights to the subsurface mineral estate.
A notice will publish in Monday’s Federal Register to begin a 45-day public comment period, which will end on May 28, 2026. Additional information is available at th BLM National NEPA Register, where comments may be submitted through the “Participate Now” option. Written comments may also be emailed to blm_wy_casper_wymail@blm.gov with “Converse County NORA” in the subject line or delivered to the BLM Casper Field Office, Attn: Converse County NORA, 2987 Prospector Drive, Casper, WY 82604.
