Sapphire Parks’ dominance in the pool continued on Sunday, April 5, as she added three more medals at the 39th CARIFTA Aquatics Championships in Martinique.

The St Joseph’s Convent student-athlete now has six medals, including three gold, in the 11–12 girls’ division at the Pierre Samot Community Aquatic Centre in Le Lamentin.

On Sunday, Parks made it to four finals. She won the 400m individual medley in a time of 5:34.39, adding silver in the 50m butterfly in 30.49 and the 100m backstroke in 1:11.97, with a fourth-place finish by a split second in the 200m freestyle final.

Saint Lucia recorded four other finals appearances on Sunday night. Tyler Dantes, the 11–12 boys’ 50m backstroke champion, finished fifth in the 100m backstroke and seventh in the 50m butterfly. Antoine Destang, a silver medallist in the 15–17 boys’ 100m butterfly, finished fifth in the 100m backstroke and sixth in the 50m butterfly.

Saint Lucia’s 12-member team is currently 11th overall after two days of competition.
