Over the past several hours, social media platforms have seen a surge in circulated imagery depicting a severe meteorological phenomenon known as a ‘Blood Storm’ impacting neighboring nations, specifically Libya.
The phenomenon, which turned skies a deep, haunting red and caused total visibility blackouts, has sparked widespread panic online.
In response to growing fears that this “Blood Storm” is headed for Egypt, Manar Ghanem, a member of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority’s (EMA) media center, categorically denied the rumors. “These claims are nothing more than rumors designed to cause public panic,” Ghanem stated.
Ghanem confirmed that Egypt is entering a period of atmospheric stability. Although the severe dust storm approached the Egyptian frontier on Thursday, its trajectory has since shifted toward the Mediterranean Sea.
She emphasized that while some wind-blown sand may occur, it will not disrupt daily life or mimic the “apocalyptic” red skies seen elsewhere. Ghanem urged citizens to ignore social media sensationalism and follow official EMA bulletins during the volatile spring season.
