SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A man who shot and injured somebody at a South Los Angeles gas station was then himself shot and killed by police officers early Friday morning.
Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at the gas station at Vermont and 115th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The suspect fled from the scene, but officers caught up with him nearby at 111th Street and Van Buren Avenue.
Officers say the suspect was armed with a handgun and did not comply with demands to drop the weapon, leading officers to shoot him.
The suspect, only identified as an adult man, died at the scene. No officers were injured.
Meanwhile, the victim who was shot at the gas station was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was said to be in stable condition.
A large perimeter was set up in the residential neighborhood for the investigation into the deadly shooting.
