Janakpurdham, April 3

An Armed Police Inspector has been arrested from Lalgarh in Dhanusha district on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000. The arrested official has been identified as Inspector Okil Adhikari.

According to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), a team from its Bardibas regional office apprehended him from Lalgarh on Friday morning along with the bribe amount.

The CIAA stated that it had been monitoring Adhikari following complaints that he was stopping vehicles involved in soil and gravel filling work under the Kamala–Dhalkebar–Bagmati road construction project, creating unnecessary obstructions, and demanding bribes.

Based on the surveillance, the CIAA team caught him red-handed with Rs 40,000 in bribe money, a source said. Further investigation into the case is underway, the CIAA added.
