COE warns of heavy rains and storms in multiple regions

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) placed three provinces and the National District on green alert due to unstable weather conditions caused by a trough and moderate east-northeast winds, according to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET).

Satellite and radar data show cloud systems moving over the north coast, southeast, and central regions, with light to moderate rainfall already affecting these areas. Authorities also warned that showers are expected to intensify during the afternoon, bringing heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and wind gusts.

The provinces under green alert are San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo, Monseñor Nouel, and the National District. Officials urged residents to avoid crossing rivers, streams, and ravines with high water levels, as well as to stay away from recreational water areas.

Additionally, on the Atlantic coast—from east of Saona Island to Monte Cristi—operators of small and fragile vessels are advised to remain in port due to rough seas and strong winds. No restrictions have been issued for the Caribbean coast.
