Mogadishu (WDN)- Reports from the No. 50 area in the Lower Shabelle region indicate that a well-known traditional elder from the Biyamaal clan was killed there last night around midnight. The elder was identified as Nabadoon Shuute Abukar Osman.
The late elder was reportedly targeted and killed in the Fadmuuse area, which falls under Lambar 50 in Lower Shabelle.
According to further reports, the individuals responsible for the killing were apprehended following an operation carried out by security forces in the Lower Shabelle region. They are expected to be brought before the law to face appropriate charges for the crime.
It is also reported that members of the Gorgor commando forces are suspected to have been involved in the killing and are currently being questioned over the circumstances that led to the elder’s death. Local residents say the incident may have stemmed from a dispute between the elder and the soldiers. The elder had reportedly intervened in a situation involving his sister, who had been assaulted, and was subsequently killed after the confrontation escalated.
Residents further noted that the slain elder had been an outspoken critic of alleged land grabbing in areas such as Baqal and Xawaalow. He had also recently participated in a major consultative conference of the Biyamaal clans held in the town of Marka.
