Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is steering clear of the backlash over his reported Walt Disney World trip by picking up an item you can’t find at the parks’ gift shops: a shotgun.
Graham, who was spotted by TMZ carrying a bubble wand and brunching with Mickey Mouse at “The Most Magical Place On Earth” over the weekend, claimed on social media that he “spent some time breaking clays” in Edgefield County, South Carolina, on Monday.
“Doesn’t get much better than that,” Graham wrote alongside a snap of him wearing a Trump International Golf Club hat and a shooting vest while raising and aiming a shotgun.
The image is a stark contrast from those from his reported three-day vacation at Disney World, where he was seen getting ready to ride Space Mountain in the Magic Kingdom, holding a “Little Mermaid”-themed bubble wand for a friend’s child and dining at Chef Mickey’s.
Graham, a cheerleader of President Donald Trump’s Iran war who has described the estimated cost of the conflict as the “best money” the U.S. “ever spent,” told TMZ that he met with Trump officials in South Florida on Friday before heading to Orlando to “meet up with some friends” the next day.
“I voted seven times to fully fund the government. Call a Democrat,” said Graham who, like Democrats, is on a two-week congressional recess after failing to reach a funding deal.
Graham’s Disney trip comes as taxpayers continue to pay his $174,000 annual salary as the partial government shutdown — which continues to leave many federal workers without pay — marches on.
Critics clowned the MAGA senator for trying to do “damage control” with the shotgun snap, with one X user joking that the flood of comments on the picture left him “ratio’d all of the way back to Magic Mountain.”
