California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sunday ripped President Donald Trump’s expensive fore!-play.

Following a HuffPost report that Trump’s golfing has set back taxpayers more than $100 million in his second term, the potential Democratic presidential candidate swung away through his press team.

“$100 million — not spent on food assistance, health care, housing, or veterans. Just golf!” the team wrote.

Trump is on pace to spend $300 million on his pastime by the end of his term. He has golfed more than 25% of his days the second time around, according to HuffPost reporter S.V. Date’s research published Saturday.

“At a time when gas prices are spiking and Americans across the country find themselves in an ever-worsening affordability crisis, the president has burned through over $100 million in taxpayer money in order to make promotional appearances at his golf courses and hobnob with millionaires and billionaires,” Jordan Libowitz of the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington told HuffPost in the article. “If his goal were to help struggling Americans out, one thing he could try is stop spending their money going to his golf courses.”

The optics of the president engaging so often in one of his favorite leisure activities during his now-monthlong war against Iran have not played well in the eyes of critics either.

“I recall that Bush 43 stopped playing golf during the Gulf War out of respect for the sons who were coming home in boxes,” sports personality Rick Reilly wrote on X earlier this month. “Meanwhile, Trump starts a war and then tools around in his golf cart, throwing his ball out of bunkers. What a soulless little punk he is.”

Reilly, who wrote the book “Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump,” has said Trump cheats on the course “like a mafia accountant” and that club championships he claims are as “fake as Velveeta cheese.”
