CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — A vehicle has fallen off of a bridge on I-64 near Charleston Saturday afternoon.

According to Metro 911 the vehicle fell of the Eastbound I-64 bridge just over MacCorkle Avenue around 2:58 p.m. The vehicle landed next to the road nearby to railroad tracks, flipping over in the process.

A 13 News reporter on the scene said the vehicle’s driver was transported in an ambulance from the crash. A firefighter told the reporter that the driver is conscious and alert.

MacCorkle Avenue Eastbound is shutdown while Westbound is down to one lane, pending the removal of the vehicle.

Charleston Police, Fire and EMS are on scene at this time.
