Forecasts indicate that the weather in Latvia will remain spring-like and warm this week, with temperatures in some areas potentially exceeding +15 degrees on certain days.
Although Tuesday and Thursday will see more clouds and less sunshine, the week as a whole will be mostly sunny. There may be some showers at times, but precipitation will be light. The heaviest rain is expected on Thursday in the eastern part of the country: in Vidzeme, Sēlija, and Latgale.
Afternoon temperatures will mostly range from +8 to +13 C, with cooler conditions in some coastal areas, but higher temperatures are expected on Wednesday, when they will be close to 15 degrees in many places, as well as on Saturday, when they may rise to +15 to +17 C in some areas.
March has been the warmest on record so far. From March 1st to 22nd, the average temperature in Latvia was +4 C. The climatological norm for this period is -0.4 degrees.
There has also been little precipitation this month. In most of the country, precipitation has reached only 1 to 7 millimetres, with amounts of up to 10–16 millimetres in some areas, mainly in Northern Vidzeme. The monthly climate norm in Latvia is around 30–40 millimeters.
